Figma Acquires Weavy — A Defining Moment for Creative AI and Israeli Innovation
We are incredibly proud to share that Figma has acquired Weavy, only nine months after Entrée Capital led the company’s Seed financing, joined by Designer Fund, Founder Collective and Micha Kaufmann (Fiverr). It’s an amazing outcome – visionary founders, a breakthrough product in a rapidly shifting creative landscape, and the continued strength and resilience of Israeli technology on the global stage.
⚡️From Concept to Category Leadership — at Lightning Speed by an Exceptional Team
When we partnered with Weavy at seed in late 2024, the company had existed for only a few months. The founders — Lior Albeck (CEO), Jonathan Alumot (CTO), Jonathan Gur-Zeev (CPO), and Itay Schiff (Creative Director) — brought together deep expertise in visual effects, creative engineering, and large-scale media systems. We saw in them something unique: rare craft, extraordinary speed of execution, a ‘complete’ team, and the ambition to redefine human-AI creative workflows.
Weavy didn’t just build another AI tool — it built a new creative work model. The platform combined the world’s leading multimodal generative models with professional editing capabilities, all on an intuitive node-based canvas. It allowed architects to generate staging visuals, marketers to produce content at scale, and designers to create video, motion, and imagery with unprecedented control.
When Weavy emerged from beta in May 2025, the market reaction was immediate: Viral adoption across creative communities; Organic growth across creator networks; and multi-million-dollar ARR in a matter of months. Not because of hype — rather, because working professionals recognized they were seeing the next step in AI-native creation, and with it a way to work efficiently with the plethora of GanAI tools and products in the market.
🧠 Why Figma + Weavy Matters

Figma shares a deep belief in human-in-the-loop creativity. As the company wrote in its announcement: the future is not about replacing creators — it’s about empowering them to push beyond the first prompt, to elevate craft, and to unlock new expressive capability.
Weavy (Figma Weave) will accelerate Figma’s mission to bring AI into every corner of product creation and visual storytelling. And importantly, Figma is committing to build in Israel, expanding R&D and doubling down on local innovation. This is not only validation of the Weavy team — it is a statement of confidence in the ecosystem.
In an era where “good enough” AI is everywhere, Figma and Weavy are building for the creators who demand the extraordinary.
🤝 A True Partnership Between Founders & Investors
Entrée Capital has always believed in backing the outliers — founders with the ambition to build what others believe impossible. We seek unconventional, exceptional thinkers, the bold, the technically fearless taking on extraordinary challenges. Weavy is a shining example of this philosophy paying off. We don’t just invest capital — we invest time, effort, create operational partnership with founding teams to help them build their businesses avoiding pitfalls along the way.
Over the last nine months, we worked together with the Weavy, especially Lior Albeck (CEO), on strategy, go-to-market, and long-range planning. Together we discussed and planned for whether to scale independently and/or pursue a strategic outcome. So, it was not by chance that Figma came to acquire Weavy, and we thank all the folks that were involved in getting it there.

It’s hard to say what could have been. We debated at length whether to continue building the company, or sell ‘early’. Once the founders decided that Figma was their perfect partner, Entrée helped to optimize for the best result.
It is rare in startups to say that “almost every decision went right.” This one did — not by luck, but through clear thinking, disciplined execution, and the courage to act decisively.
🇮🇱 A Proud Moment for Israeli Tech
This acquisition carries significance beyond financial success:
- It comes at a deeply meaningful and important time for Israel.
- It shines a spotlight on world-class Israeli engineering and creative intelligence.
- It reflects strength, resilience, and momentum in our innovation ecosystem.
- It signals to the world that transformational companies are still being built in the country, no matter what the national situation is.
Global companies and investors are not just watching — they are investing.
🎬 To end…
We are honored to have been early partners in this journey, and this is only the beginning of what the Weavy team will build as part of Figma.
Congratulations to Lior, Itay, Jonathan, Jonathan, the entire Weavy team, and our friends at Figma. We are excited for what comes next — and proud that the future of creative AI is being shaped, in part, from Tel Aviv. We are so very proud of you!
